CCM CHAPTER TO RECOGNIZE RECIPIENTS OF AWARD FOR STUDENT INOLVEMENT IN CAMPUS TELEVISION PRODUCTION
RANDOLPH, NJ—The County College of Morris (CCM) chapter of the United Adjunct Faculty of New Jersey (UAFNJ) will be awarding The Gerard Bevan Award to three students. This award, valued at $500, is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates professionalism and commitment in the weekly production of “CCM: All Access,” the College’s first weekly television program.
Gerard Bevan was one of the founding faculty members at CCM when the College opened in 1968. Hired into the English Department, Bevan developed and taught the College’s first speech courses. A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bevan received the baccalaureate degree in English from the University of Scranton in 1964 and the Master of Arts degree, also in English, from Duquesne University in 1966. He taught at CCM for twelve years before departing in June of 1980. Bevan currently resides in Florida.
Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a ceremony was not held last year. As a result, this year’s ceremony will recognize the awardees from 2020 and 2021. Daniel Giordano, a recent graduate of CCM’s business administration program from Fairfield, NJ; Matthew Sinnott, a graduate of CCM’s criminal justice program from Randolph, NJ; and Derek O’Leary, a sophomore majoring in business administration from Succasunna, NJ, will all be recognized for their many hours of service to this show. Jack Riggin, a sophomore majoring in communication from Summit, NJ, will serve as master of ceremonies. Brenda Todd ’20, a previous recipient of The Gerard Bevan Award, will present the awards.
“CCM: All Access” is a weekly talk show that is taped in the Alex DeCroce Media Center’s television studio, featuring interviews with faculty, administration, students, and alumni. Production began in January 2018, and the show is now nearing completion of its seventh season. The show is aired every Monday on Morris Educational Television (METV) and is also viewable on YouTube.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 21st at 3 p.m. at the Alex DeCroce Media Center on the CCM campus.
